There is something so exciting about yoga. Whether practicing in a class, teaching a class myself or surfing through other yogis pictures on social media. I love the feeling that yoga brings to my mind, body and soul. What brought me to love yoga was when I noticed how much of a happier person I was when practicing. What intrigued me to continue was how it impacted my chronic joint pain, especially in my spine, in such a positive way. It relieved pain that medication and massages would not relieve. What keeps me wanting more is the amazing community that you can find all across the world.
Since childhood I was into physical activity. I was on the track and field team starting in grade 6, I took gym and weight class throughout high school. I got into physical therapy post secondary. I love practicing yoga, being at the gym, running, boxing and Muay Thai. (Yoga is the Yin to my Boxing Yang.) Though my love for yoga started fairly late, yoga has taken a special seat in my life.
I work in the hospital full time teaching therapeutic exercises on 3 units: Acute Care for Elders, Cardiology and the CCU - Coronary Care Unit (Cardiac Intensive Care Unit). Outside of the hospital, I teach yoga classes at my church's non-profit organization, Cause Effect Fitness. CEF also offers boxing and Muay Thai classes at various places around Ontario. Some of the places we have committed to are a Half-Way-House community for youth in Mississauga, and a couple of Native Reserves during the summer in Wikwemikong on Manitoulin Island and at Moose Deer Point. All of our classes are not for profit so all our teachers are volunteers. Though most of the classes I teach are with CEF, I do offer mobile classes upon request. Please visit the Contact page for inquiries. Yoga Retreats will be coming very soon!
Ko La Yoga is a mobile boutique as classes will travel to you or pop up in different areas. I love yoga but I love sharing love and health to those who need it most, so much more. I look forward to meeting new yogis all across the world, especially those who share the same passions as me!
You are light in a dark world. Spread love and kindness! (and yoga!)
Love and blessings,
"We are committed to spending our energy for the benefit of others. We have a variety of fitness classes like Conditioning, Boxing, Muay Thai and Yoga. Every class you take helps us feed the poor and bless our community and world" ~ Cause Effect Fitness
